Skechers Slip-ins Relaxed Fit: Pollard - Waylon Review

I was skeptical about a boot that was "slip in" but was pleasantly surprised. They work. When looking at the laces I found that they were two-piece, upper and lower. And they were stretchable. My concern was the lower lace as it had been cut and melted together to form one continuous piece (no ability to tie). What happens if this this particular lace breaks?
